What is the syntax for converting text fields into dates and times? Thanks in advance I am currently trying to validate data in an access database.
What is the syntax for converting text fields into dates and times? Thanks in advance You will really have to write your own function for this.
Allowing invalid data to be entered into the database ensures that the database and the data available will become less valuable and harder for the user to use.
If you try to enter a second record 11/29/2016 it will be have the the same value and the unique record restriction will stop the record being saved.
You could however store 11/29/2016 and there would be no duplication violation.
#2/28/2014 # If you omit the time component, Access will assume the time automatically.
So, writing #2/28/2014# is the same as #2/28/2014 #.
Number = 0 Then If dte I am currently trying to validate data in an access database.
What is the syntax for converting text fields into dates and times? Thanks in advance I'm almost afraid to ask this, but why not just store them as normal date/time fields in Access and then use date math to convert them to some other format by using a query?Seems like you're making work for yourself by working against the way the database works. Store dates in Date fields: that is what Date fields are for.Only way of validating the fields like that is to use a function in the Before Insert event of your form and disallow adding records directly to the table. When you want to display them, use the Format property to make them look however you want. I am currently trying to validate data in an access database.I need to verify that columns containing date information are in the format ddmmyyyy and columns containg time information are in the format HH: MM 24. ie date 12121998, time Could anyone suggest a method for validating the fields. That is why the Date Time value #2/28/2014# is considered earlier than #2/28/2014 #.
