Since you run VSS2005 you are already using a MSSCCI 1.3 provider, and the status updates should be done on background threads.
You may want to check: - if you also had installed VSS6 on the machine, check that you're really using the VSS2005 provider ("regsvr32 ssscc.dll" in the VSS2005 folder, restart Visual Studio) - that you don't have an antivirus interfering.
It's a serious problem as I really don't want to disconnect source countrol integration (that's not a solution either). It's simply unacceptable that VS 2008 doesn't work with VSS 2005 properly and should have been caught way before deployment.
Regards, Nick H Nick, you've already posted in 3 threads about your issue (threads that were VS2005 specific anyway) without giving too specific informations.
The problem occured before the VSS 2005 patch as well as after.
I am experiencing it with a small project that has a large number of files that aren't checked in (Rad Controls directory). The window is created the first time the menu command is chosen, and is only destroyed when VS is closed! When VS is closed the position of all visible toolwindows is persisted, and on VS startup all saved toolwindows are re-created.In VS Studio 2008, when I'm opening the "Pending Checkins" tab, the content is stuck with "Updating..." and never shows the checked-out files... Every other ss commands are working in VS Studio 2K8 Thanks In VS Studio 2008, when I'm opening the "Pending Checkins" tab, the content is stuck with "Updating..." and never shows the checked-out files... The status is retrieved on idle on UI thread if you're using a MSSCCI 1.2 provider.
